Personal Finance Literacy brings Personal Success

The Mission of the Minnesota Council is to eliminate economic illiteracy. The PERSONAL FINANCE DECATHLON supports this mission by creating a fun incentive for students to take ownership of their education, their choices and their future.

The Minnesota Council on Economic Education with support from COUNTRY Financial, the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, and Sit Investments Associates, Inc. hosts the PERSONAL FINANCE DECATHLON.

The Decathlon is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge of personal finance literacy by competing with other students across the state in an online quiz.

All high school students are eligible. Teachers may enter multiple teams. There is no registration cost to teachers or students to participate in the Decathlon.

Timeline: Register for the Decathlon from January 21, 2013 through April 5, 2013. Once registered, create teams of 3-4 students. Students compete online between March 5 and April 5, 2013. Winning teams from six schools will be invited to the state competition at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis on April 17, 2013. The state winner will travel to the national competition in St. Louis, MO on May 20, 2013. Up to $1,500 will be provided to this team to support travel costs.
